The scientific identity of the Department, including the conduct of independent research aimed at the highest quality and utilitarianism of the results obtained, is a core value of our unit. In the ongoing era of uncompromising struggle for points (e.g., IF), in the growing trend of PUBLISH OR PERISH, in which informal "consortia" of co-authors and ghostwriting, directed solely at the tangible benefits of artificially inflated bibliometric indices, at the expense of the coherence of the research topic and the real contribution, have become the daily weapons of work for many, the Department of Pathophysiology of Aging and Civilization Diseases takes the opposite attitude. We pride ourselves on the full intellectual, methodological and financial integrity of our research. All scientific endeavors carried out in our unit, i.e., scientific projects, publications, grant applications and others, affiliated with our staff have been conceived, financed, realized and written exclusively by ourselves.
